The Land of No ‘Zines

The art community is small here in Jackson but the talent is big.  Therefore I ask myself why there are not more homemade zines littering the streets and coffee shops.  Head to any town across the country, go into a local bookstore and you can find stacks of zines by all sorts of local artists.  Many are under $5 and lots are free. I’m talking about the printed at home and stapled zines, not the glossy thick ones like The Jackson Hole Snowboarder.  Really all you need is plenty of art, a scanner (or a Staples photocopier) and a way to bind the pages like hand sewing or a stapler.

This is a call to Jackson artists. Take your sketchbook and go photocopy it, then staple the pages together and leave the result wherever you go.

If you can’t figure it out on your own here’s a blog about how to do it (stupid).
